Have you ever seen the bloopers from Rush Hour? I did once, and it changed my life. Not all at once, mind you. But there was something about Jackie Chan brandishing his fireman and commanding the assailant to “cheese” instead of “freeze” that left a deep impression on me. The crew’s laughter echoed my own, and I felt a draw towards the on-set environment which seemed to balance creative productivity and genuine joy.

Movies, however, were only fantasies to my middle school imagination. And even after four years of high school, I was still split between two possibilities for the rest of my life. The first was mathematics, a field I was good at and which seemed to have a fairly secure job market. The second, film, was enjoyable, but how could I make a living doing that? Thus my classes at UCSD were initially split between the two fields. One quarter of multivariable calculus, however, prompted me to question myself once more: how could I make a living doing that?

Thankfully, I discovered a cute little org by the name of Triton Television. I have spent many days and nights working on film projects, inspired by the passion and skill of this studio’s many talented members. Cinematography is my strong suit, but I just like being on set. Will gladly do lighting and might do sound if asked nicely.

Good movies/shows: Harakiri, No Country for Old Men, The Princess Bride, The Big Lebowski, Smiling Friends, Bojack Horseman
